What is an FCE?
FCE stands for Functional Capacity Evaluation, which is a physical test that measures an injured worker’s abilities. Various activities are performed that simulate on-the-job work, which can then be matched to the specific tasks of a particular job.
As a referring doctor, why should I select Solely FCE?
By combining the best clinicians, techniques, and business practices in the industry, Solely FCE delivers the highest quality service to patients and doctors alike. As a WorkWell Systems Provider, we utilize the most evidence-based FCE in the world, and are committed to providing the most accurate and comprehensive results in an extremely timely fashion. Unlike most FCE providers, referring doctors always receive our reports within two business days of a patient's visit - often weeks, or even months, faster than other clinics.
As a patient, what should I expect from Solely FCE?
In addition to possessing a great deal of expertise, our personable and caring clinicians utilize a unique approach that allows the patient to test for maximum objective strength without fear of injury. In our kinesiophysical testing method, it is the therapist skilled in musculoskeletal function – not the worker – who identifies precise physical and functional abilities. In addition to observing muscle function, movement patterns, physiological changes, safety, and worker behavior, the clinician also correlates physical findings with functional limitations and provides specific solutions regarding when and in what capacity the patient can safely return to work.
Which FCE is right for me?
Solely FCE performs both 2-day and 1-day FCEs, which address the following needs:
2-day FCE
- Provides an objective statement of a worker’s abilities over time; this includes specific diagnoses, such as disease process, nerve root irritation, etc.
- Provides objective evidence of problems, as opposed to relying solely on a worker’s report of problems, which is especially important if a history of inconsistencies is present
- Provides critical information in medical legal and disability cases
- Provides important information for complicated cases or those with extensive medical history where multiple factors may influence a patient's return to work
1-day FCE
- Provides a standardized format for identifying general FCE abilities
- Provides diagnostic-specific or body-specific testing
- Provides baseline testing prior to work rehabilitation
- Not appropriate for chronic or complicated cases
- Not appropriate for medical legal or disability cases
